Why Ask Why
I have a buddy who is always recommending different podcasts to me, different books, articles, stuff like that. And I’m not complaining, they are always interesting to me, and I learn so much. But I have to be honest: it’s a little high-brow. I am impressed by the very intelligent things my buddy points me toward. I just think it’s time for me to send him some interesting things he should look into. Be prepared, I love the weird side of life.
I am not alone. I devour the Why Files with AJ Gentile. He’s been featured on Joe Rogan, Shawn Ryan, and recently Tucker Carlson. His show takes a look at various mysterious situations, involving all sorts of stuff, like UFOs (now called UAP: Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon), archeological mysteries, and legends that may have the truth at their foundation.
Strange Paradigms with my friend Cristina Gomez is another great site. I’ve had her on my show a couple of times, and she’s gotten so busy that I’m not sure when I can get her back on, but I’m still following her. Lots of great stuff on the UAP side of life.
Let’s delve into some of my favorite unanswered questions. We don’t know who built the pyramids. We are not sure when they were built. There are theories that the Egyptians found the pyramids and the Sphinx. No mummies were ever discovered in a pyramid, and the idea that tomb raiders took them can’t be proven either. Plus, the Sphinx and the Great Pyramids all show water damage that would have been caused by vast amounts of water, like, say, a global flood. Yeah, they could be that old.
Another weird fact: the Egyptian government seems not want to discover new sites. The Lost Labyrinth of Hawara has been talked about since ancient Greece. It was a legend to them. Herodotus, the historian, said the labyrinths dwarfed the pyramids in size and scale, with over 3,000 rooms. And again, Herodotus said the Egyptians didn’t build it, but the kings from the beginning of time built it. Ground-penetrating radar has discovered a massive site underground that could be it, but the scientists who discovered it and reported it have been kicked out of the country, and anyone trying to do more research on it has been threatened with losing access to the country. Is that wild or what? Geologists have warned that the water table is rising and will destroy the site, but the government said, yeah, that’s ok, we would rather it be destroyed. The radar also showed a 150-foot metal ring at the center. It. Just. Keeps. Getting. Weirder.
It’s not just the Egyptians. There’s the Yonaguni Monument off the coast of Japan. It’s a rectangular rock formation under the ocean that sure looks like a pyramid. One scientist said it was definitely man-made, with steps and a road visible. Another geologist said it was a natural formation made by ocean currents. It would be over 10,000 years old, which would be older than the first recorded history of the pyramids in Egypt. But the Japanese government has made a peculiar finding of neutrality. It has never funded a study of them, and will not be doing so. It also offers no protection for the site. Weird, huh?
The United States also has, hmm, an interesting take on things. I have been to Washington, DC, once, but I didn’t make it to the Smithsonian. I was only there for a couple of days, and honestly, I’d rather go for a week, with no distractions but going to the museums. There is so much to see. But you only get to see a small percentage of what they actually have. There are an estimated 157 million items, with less than 1% being displayed. They have been sent, or have acquired, many strange things, like giant bones. Humanoid giant bones. But they seem to have lost them. A newspaper story from 1909 claimed that Smithsonian researchers discovered an ancient civilization in a hidden cave in the Grand Canyon. The museum now claims they never worked for them.
The Grand Canyon story is weird. There are places you can’t go in the canyon. The official stance is that some are native lands that are sacred, there’s a plane crash site from 1956 where the wreckage and bodies couldn’t be recovered, so it’s regarded as a burial, and even a uranium mine, radioactivity, donchaknow. But there is a cave that, for some reason, has an iron door over it. If you get a chance to listen to the Tucker Carlson show with AJ Gentile, some really interesting theories are floated.
Göbeklitepe
This place is in Turkey. We know it’s at least 9,600 years old, but it could be even older. This was built at a time in man’s history when it was believed that society was nothing more than hunter/gatherers. Archaeologists literally thought society was not capable of building such a structure. And what’s wild, it appears that it was purposefully buried to protect it. Like I said, just some crazy stuff. Start going down your own wormhole and let me know what you find!
Ok, I just wanted to give your brain a break from all the stresses that occupy all our days. One of the things I love about science is that the more we learn, the more we realize we don’t know. I can’t wait to find out what I don’t know tomorrow! Thanks for reading and sharing these columns, and listening to my podcast. Please feel free to rate it and leave a review; it really does help!
